Got a story to tell?
Stockholm Syndrome is a lifestyle and culture blog for the globally curious. We explore the underbellies of mainstream trends, forgotten corners of the world, and the everyday rituals that make life feel a little more alive. We’re always looking for contributors with a strong voice, an eye for detail, and something worth saying.
What we’re looking for
We love stories that feel like a cross between This American Life and a late-night conversation with your smartest friend. If you’ve ever found yourself down a Wikipedia rabbit hole, taking a detour to see a roadside oddity, or scribbling thoughts about cultural rituals in the margins of a guidebook—you’ll fit right in.
Here’s what makes a great Stockholm Syndrome story:
- Cultural deep dives – uncovering overlooked traditions, places, or people
- Personal essays – reflections with grit, humor, and resonance
- Global/local contrasts – bringing big ideas home (or vice versa)
- Rituals, routines, and relics – how we live and why we do it that way
- Food, fashion, and design with a cultural twist – not fluff, but substance
Quirky is welcome. Earnest is cool. But cliché and generic? Not here.
What to expect
We’re building something special, and we want you to be part of it. Here’s what you’ll get as a contributor:
- A byline and dedicated author page on a beautiful, curated platform
- Exposure to a smart, loyal, and growing audience
- Social promotion across our channels
- Flexible, transparent contributor terms (we’re happy to talk traffic-based compensation or freelance rates as we grow)
We work with writers to shape pieces that shine—we’re not here to ghost you or butcher your voice.
Ready to pitch?
Send your idea(s) to ashley@stockholmsyndro.me with:
- A short pitch (3–5 sentences)
- A sample of your writing (link or attachment)
- A sentence or two about you
We’re open to one-offs or recurring contributors. If your voice fits the vibe, we’ll find a spot.
